A Design Council (2008) survey demonstrates a link between design expenditure and economic performance; with studies showing that for every £100 a business spends on design increases turnover by £225. However, it is also clear that many companies, especially UK-based SMEs, are missing the huge opportunity that design creativity can offer and this is where VSI-thinking can help:

Who owns the internet?

The internet is so big, so huge! but has control over it!! does anyone...?The internet indeed is huge! but who in are the "police" for it!!

Well as far as it goes! there are no standards to abide too! there are now certifcations required to put a website on the internet! you can publish what ever you like! ( as long as its legal of course)

If anyone has control over the internet though, then for the UK its a non profit company called "Nominet" .. nominet are a company who control and look after all the domains that come under the uk space! such as .co.uk . tv.uk .org.uk .... all domains purchased or sold go through nominet! and its nominet who can isssue you them! altough its relativly easy to get a .co.uk domain! but when aiming for .org. or .gov.uk, then special requirments need to be met! to have a .gov.uk! means you are part of the goverment.

nominet act as the main DNS system for the Uk! purchasing domains directly from nominet can cost around a shocking £90 per year! but dont worry! many hosting and domain companies can supply you names at less then £10 per year!
